External V.92 56K Call Waiting
Modem With V.92 capabilities, the Actiontec Call Waiting Modem gives analog modems a new life and a faster engine to burn through the Internet! The Modem-on-Hold feature enables you to receive phone calls while you're surfing the Net. You can talk for several minutes with modem-on-hold without disconnecting your Internet connection. With Quick Connect you won't sit idle and frustrated while your modem connects to the web. Quick Connect memorizes the characteristics of your phone line and cuts your connection time in half. Additionally, Actiontec's 56K External Call Waiting Modem supports V.44, a new data-compression protocol that delivers data rates 10% to 120% faster than before. Requiring ISP support of this standard, V.44 allows you to enjoy faster Internet browsing and increased data throughput for many popular applications. V.92 modems will only exhibit V.92 features if your ISP will support it, but the Actiontec 56K External Call Waiting Modem will still allow you to receive calls while online in the V.90 format. Many modems today are Windows-based. This means that they use some portion of your CPU to process the signals being sent and received from the Internet. If you have an older system that has a processor slower than 300MHz, you will often notice the computer slowing down when downloading large websites or files. With the Actiontec 56K External Call Waiting Modem this delay will not occur because all of the modem processing is done on the modem itself. |
